Quentin Tarantino confirms retirement rumours

Quentin Tarantino is retiring from filmmaking… after two more movies.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the legendary 53-year-old filmmaker revealed at a film conference in San Diego that he’ll be leaving the film business behind.

But he has two more films to make, first.

“Quentin Tarantino has doubled-down on his pledge never to make another film past his tenth,” they revealed. “Meaning his next two films will be his last.” He reportedly stated: “Drop the mic. Boom. Tell everybody, ‘Match that s***’.”

What are his next projects?

“Before Tarantino gets to work on his next full-length scripted film — which he teased earlier this year as potentially being a ‘Bonnie and Clyde-esque’ tale set in 1930s Australian — the 53-year-old director told the crowd inside Hall H that he is focused at the moment on a historical nonfiction project.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Tarantino has hinted at retirement after completing ten feature films… but now he’s confirmed that he intends to retire after hitting the magic number.

And that’s just two films away.

During the course of the Adobe Max conference, Tarantino took questions about his career and even commented on what his personal definition of success might be.

“Hopefully, the way I define success when I finish my career is that I’m considered one of the greatest filmmakers that ever lived,” he said. “And going further, a great artist, not just filmmaker.”

The iconic director, whose hits include ‘Reservoir Dogs’, ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Kill Bill’, ‘Django Unchained’ and ‘The Hateful Eight’, also explained his own creative methods… and revealed that often, a film begins with a flick through his record collection.

“So much of [the movie’s language] revolves around a sound or a song,“ he said. "Before I’ve started, I’m seriously thinking about the music. I’m listening to a track and picturing everyone at the Cannes Palais just loving it.”
