Rami Malek awkwardly snubbed by Nicole Kidman on stage at the Golden Globes

Well, this was palpably, toe-curlingly awkward.

Rami Malek was on top of the world last night, having just picked up the Best Picture award for Bohemian Rhapsody at the Golden Globes.

But after the speeches were done, and he turned to awards presenter Nicole Kidman to say ‘hi’, maybe even perhaps get a hug, or at the very least a handshake, she turns away just at the crucial moment, leaving him desperately hanging.

All that’s left for him to do is try and style it out by patting her on the side as they head for the wings, and pretend that he didn’t just get blanked.

Twitter loved it, obviously, many totally sympathising with poor Rami.

Luckily, it seemed the pair did get together back stage, and there’s pictorial evidence to prove it.

Malek also the Best Actor gong for his role as Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic.

But there’s been some criticism over the win, thanks to director Bryan Singer’s involvement in the movie.

Singer has the directing credit for the film, despite being sacked by Fox during production for alleged absences on set, but he’s long been the subject of multiple sexual assault allegations.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which hosts the Globes, has been heavily criticised for presenting the film with a top, in the wake of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements.
