Yahoo Movies Rebel Moon 2 first reactions land ahead of Netflix release
Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is coming to Netflix next week, and ahead of its release, the first reactions have landed.
The first part of Zack Snyder's sci-fi action movie was released at the end of 2023 and while it was a hit with viewers, it received poor reviews from critics.
Some critics have now seen the anticipated sequel at advance screenings, and have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to share their first reactions to the new film.

Let's just say, there are some very mixed feelings about Rebel Moon 2.
Brian Davids from The Hollywood Reporter was very positive about the film and wrote: "Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is a major step up from Part One. The first hour lays the groundwork for the coming battle, but then the last hour is nothing short of spectacular.
"Sofia Boutella and Zack Snyder work well together, and I hope Part Three comes to pass."
Gizmodo and io9's Germain Lussier was a bit more unsure, and said: "Thankfully, #RebelMoon – Part 2: The Scargiver is better than Part 1. Here, Snyder is more concerned about character than world-building and keeps everything contained & focused.

"And yet, it still drags, gets repetitive & never connects emotionally. The third act rules though."
Meanwhile, Tessa Smith, from Mama's Geeky, wrote: "At the end of Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver it feels as if this story has not advanced much. It's as if we're in the same place we were after Part 1 except the body count is a bit higher. I do love me a Zack Snyder slow-motion scene though & there are plenty!"
The founder of Muses of Media, Britany Murphy, said: "I really enjoyed Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. Of course, it had thrilling action, but perhaps the best part was the great character work throughout.

"Sofia Boutella and Ed Skrein are fantastic, while Bae Doona and Djimon Hounsou are scene-stealers!"
She continued: "Every character gets an opportunity to shine in Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, and learning about their backstories added a gravitas to the film that I frankly appreciated."
Finally, Rama's Screen said: "Rebel Moon Part 2 was more action-packed than Part 1. But the dialogues left much to be desired & the backstories were too melancholic. That said, a firepowered battled was what I came for & a firepowered battle was what I got. It did its job."
Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is released on Netflix on Friday, April 19.
