If you haven’t seen ‘Prometheus’ and would rather not read any spoilers, proceed with caution…

Having recently declared that the upcoming sequel to 2012 ‘Alien’ prequel ‘Prometheus’ will be entitled ‘Alien: Paradise Lost,’ director Ridley Scott has now shed a little light on what will happen in the next installment of the epic sci-fi saga.

Speaking to Awards Campaign, Scott reveals that we can expect a whole new ensemble of deep space explorers in the new film - not that this is too unexpected, given ‘Prometheus’ didn’t leave many survivors.

Scott reveals that ‘Alien: Paradise Lost’ is “going to be it’s own separate thing because they are going to the planet of the Engineers and they [i.e. Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth and Michael Fassbender’s David, or his severed android head at least] are going to see what happened there. It was a disaster.

“And they will be in that alien craft that takes them there, but with a new group that’s incoming, a new group of travelers in the beginning of the first act.”

Naturally this has resulted in speculation as to whether the crew Scott refers to might be that of the Nostromo from the original 1979 ‘Alien’ - but that might be getting ahead of things somewhat, particularly as Scott has declared his hope to make at least one, potentially two more ‘Prometheus’ sequels/’Alien’ prequels.

And it seems Scott’s plan is very much in motion, as the director says, “There is an evolution to this one so if we can get something down I don’t not see how we go [forward without a third].”

‘Alien: Paradise Lost’ is scheduled to start production in March 2016. In the meantime, Scott’s latest film ‘The Martian’ is in cinemas now.
