Robert Pattinson is only still acting because of Harry Potter

While Robert Pattinson has gone on to have great success as an actor, for Harry Potter fans he will always be Cedric Diggory, the exemplary Hufflepuff who dies during the Triwizard Tournament in The Goblet Of Fire.

You might assume that Pattinson has moved on from his work on the Harry Potter franchise, especially since he has appeared in the Twilight series and received great acclaim for his performances in Cosmopolis, Maps To The Stars, The Lost City Of Z, Good Time, and, most recently, The Lighthouse.

But it turns out that Pattinson still looks back rather fondly on his time filming Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, telling the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that “it was a really nice environment.”

“Even compared to movies I’ve done since, it was very protected, the way the kids were treated. I’ve watched movies where you see a kid who’s got their tutor and it doesn’t exactly seem like they’re really going to school. I mean, it’s just kind of [like] they are fulfilling a legal requirement. But in Harry Potter, it was like they were at school and they were kind of doing work at the same time.”

Pattinson even want as far as to say that it was while promoting Harry Potter in Japan that he decided to really pursue his career as an actor, even declaring, “I wouldn’t be acting if it wasn’t for that.”

“I remember going to Tokyo for the first time and sitting in my room, looking out over the city and being like ‘How has this happened?' It was really special and I really like that movie.”

Pattinson can next be seen in The Lighthouse, which is due out in the UK on January 31, 2020.
