Robin Williams Is Perfect In Heartbreaking Lost Mrs. Doubtfire Footage

The death of Robin Williams in August 2014 rocked anyone who adored his movies. Which meant that it rocked anyone who had seen even a second of one of his movies.

It also meant that whenever moviegoers subsequently re-watched any of his films they instantly saw them in a different light. Which is why watching these heart breaking lost scenes from ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ is all the more emotional.

But you still need to see them, because it’s the perfect example of just how formidable a dramatic, as well as comedic, actor Robin Williams was.

The above three scenes were compiled and uploaded by Matthew Keys, and they see Robin Williams’ Daniel Hillard at loggerheads with his ex-wife Miranda (Sally Field) over seeing his children.

‘Mrs. Doubtfire’, while full of some of Robin Williams’ funniest over-the-top slapstick moments, always did have a weightier subject matter than his other comedies, as it revolved around a father doing all that he could to spend time with his kids.

The above deleted scenes would probably have been the most serious of the entire film. In fact, there’s actually no laughs in them at all. Except for the visual of Robin Williams as a half-dressed Mrs. Doubftire.

Yet, because of lines like, “It wouldn’t be real we’d be acting 24 hours a day,” and “Life’s more real and wonderful than that,” they still make for a touching and emotional watch.

Released in 1993, ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ was a box office smash, going on to gross $441.3 million, and proving that Robin Williams was one of the greatest comedic talents of his generation, whose presence is still missed today.
