The stars of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ have done the timewarp once again, to celebrate the 40 years since the release of the cult classic.

Entertainment Weekly coaxed back Tim Curry (Dr. Frank N. Furter), Susan Sarandon (Janet Weiss), Barry Bostwick (Brad Majors), Patricia Quinn (Magenta) and Meatloaf (Eddie) for the special milestone.

Though the movie - picked up from the success of Richard O'Brien’s stage show - was a huge flop on release, it quickly went on to create a cult of its own.

As such, it’s been screened at cinemas ever since, making it the longest continuously-running movie in cinema history.

Sarandon recalled getting pneumonia on the set - Oakley Court in Berkshire – because it was so cold shooting in winter at the dilapidated manor house.

“There was no ceiling. It was raining right into the building,” she said.

“I had to finally ask for something and they got a space heater and put kind of screens around it. And then one day it went up in flames, luckily, with nobody in it and that was the end of that.”

Meanwhile, in an interview on US show Today, Curry, who has suffered ill health in recent years, including a stroke in 2012, told how he changed the voice of his transvestite character from German to English at the last minute.

“One day I was on a London bus and I heard a woman say, 'Do you have a house in town or a house in the country?’ And I thought, 'That’s it. That’s what he should sound like: the queen’. It changed everything,” he said.

The movie’s soundtrack made songs like 'Sweet Transvestite’, sung by Curry, 'Hot Patootie’, 'Dammit Janet’ and 'The Time Warp’ hits around the world.

A special two-hour performance of the show from London’s Playhouse Theatre, featuring O'Brien as The Narrator, is to be staged later this month and broadcast on BBC America.
