Rosario Dawson Cast As LEGO Batman’s Bat-Girl

Rosario Dawson has signed up to play the Bat-Girl to Will Arnett’s Batman in the upcoming spin-off to ‘The LEGO Movie’, ‘LEGO Batman.’

The Hollywood Reporter were the first to reveal that 36-year-old Dawson is joining Arnett’s vapid but hugely hysterical animated version of the caped crusader.

As part of her duties voicing Bat-Girl, Dawson will also provide the voice for Barbara Gordon, who is the daughter of Gotham police commissioner James Gordon. She then turns into Bat-Girl, and helps Batman and Robin tackle crime across the city.

It’s actually no surprise that Dawson has joined the film, as she is known for her love and devotion to comic books. In fact, she even created her very own, entitled ‘O.C.T. :Occult Crimes Taskforce’. Meanwhile she’s already voiced Wonder Woman in DC’s ‘Justice League: Throne Of Atlantis’, and Artemis in ‘Wonder Woman.’

Dawson isn’t just loyal to the world of DC though, as she has recently finished filming her role in ‘Daredevil’s’ second season, in which she’ll play Night Nurse. In fact, the character is also set to appear in ‘Luke Cage’ too, which, like ‘Daredevil’, will air on Netflix.

Work is already well underway on ‘LEGO Batman’. Soon after ‘The LEGO Movie’ was released in February 2014, fans began to fawn over Will Arnett’s scene-stealing portrayal of Batman.

This immediately led Warner Bros. to order a spin-off, which has been written by Seth Grahame-Smith and is being directed by Chris McKay. Meanwhile ‘The LEGO Movie’s’ producers Dan Lin & Roy Lee, as well as its writing and directing team of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, are all producing this time round.

Arnett will be joined on vocal duties by Michael Cera, who will star as Robin, while talks are still on-going to include Zach Galifianakis as the Joker. Castings that are so perfect it makes ‘LEGO Batman’s’ release date of February 10, 2017, seem even further away than it actually is.
