Sacha Baron Cohen spotted filming as Borat
Is a Borat revival on the cards? That certainly seems to be the case after Sacha Baron Cohen was spotted filming while dressed as his iconic comedy creation in Long Beach, Los Angeles.
A video on social media platform TikTok, shared on 18 August by user Alexandheir, shows Baron Cohen driving a battered yellow pick up truck, while sporting his Kazakh persona’s trademark thick moustache, and ill-fitting tan suit,
The video shows he’s being filmed from a camera van driving in front, but it’s not clear what he’s being filmed for. Yahoo has contacted the actor’s reps for a response.
The British comedian is rumoured to be shooting something new – possibly a second season of his 2018 HBO series Who Is America? – and has recently been rumbled twice while filming undercover.
In June Cohen was seen at a far right event in Washington, attempting to dupe attendees into singing an offensive song that referenced Hilary Clinton, antifa and the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Then in July he was caught pranking former New York City mayor and Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani said that Cohen looked “absurd” in the bikini, which he wore underneath a translucent mesh top.

He added: “This person comes in yelling and screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shake-down, so I reported it to the police. He then ran away.
“I only later realised it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen. I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me.”
The character of Borat Sagdiyev was first developed for a sketch show in the 1990s, and appeared in a number of different forms before he was revived by the British comic for Da Ali G Show in 2000. In 2006, the character headlined Larry Charles’ acclaimed mockumentary Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
His wide-eyed innocence, propensity for outrageous taboo-busting statements, vulgar language and comedy pratfalls earned the character legions of fans, and won Baron Cohen a Golden Globe for Best Comedy Performance.
Baron Cohen subsequently retired the character, but has revived him a number of times, appearing twice on Jimmy Kimmel Live as Borat in 2015 to promote Grimsby and in 2018 to promote Who Is America?.
