Samuel L Jackson ensures he’ll never be mistaken for Laurence Fishburne again

The world cringed when Samuel L Jackson was confused for fellow actor Laurence Fishburne by Hollywood reporter Sam Rubin in an interview last month.

Rubin was taught a very public lesson after mistakenly asking Jackson about his non-existent Super Bowl Super Bowl commercial. The 65-year-old actor responded: “I’m the other guy…there’s more than one black guy doing commercials,” before launching into a relentless takedown live on air.

"I'm the 'What's in your wallet?' black guy. [Fishburne's] the car black guy. Morgan Freeman is the other credit card black guy,“ he told Rubin, adding: "We don't all look alike!"

And Jackson seems keen that nobody should ever make the mistake again, going so far as to spend yesterday wearing a t-shirt bearing the slogan: “I’m not Laurence Fishburne.”

The star spent the day doing press interviews for his latest film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Tweeted a snap of the t-shirt, telling fans: “My interview statement for the day!”

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is released in the UK on March 26.
