Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman to reunite for Practical Magic 2
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman will reunite for a Practical Magic sequel.
The original 1998 film featured the two Hollywood icons as the Owens sisters, the latest in a long family line of witches who try to banish an evil spirit before it overtakes their New England town.
Practical Magic 2 was officially announced by Warner Bros on Instagram on Monday (June 10), with confirmation that the sequel is "in development and coming soon". The announcement coincided with the news that Practical Magic is now on streaming service Max in the US.
According to Variety, Sandra and Nicole will be reprising their roles as siblings Sally and Gillian Owens, though there's no telling yet whether Goran Visnjic will be back as Gillian's evil ex-boyfriend.

Akiva Goldsman will be returning to write the script, after previously adapting author Alice Hoffman's original novel along with Robin Swicord and Adam Brooks. Actor-filmmaker Griffin Dunne directed the 1998 movie.
There have been many attempts to revive Practical Magic over the years, including a scrapped 2004 TV spin-off that would have starred Chicago Fire's Kim Delaney and Star Trek: Picard's Jeri Ryan.
Other attempts to adapt the film for TV were made over the years, most recently by HBO for a Rules of Magic prequel series based on Hoffman's novel.
Bullock has taken a few years away from Hollywood following her partner Bryan Randall's long illness and eventual death last year, and she most recently starred in the comedy adventure movies The Lost City in 2022.

Kidman has Netflix romantic comedy A Family Affair coming out at the end of June, as well as the animated musical Spellbound and the erotic thriller Babygirl.
It was reported earlier this year that Kidman is also reuniting with Reese Witherspoon for a third season of the Emmy-winning series Big Little Lies.
Practical Magic 2 does not yet have a release date. A Family Affair is released on Netflix on June 28.
