Shazam! Fury of the Gods has confirmed the release date for digital copies of the film.

Following on from 2019's Shazam!, the film saw Zachary Levi return once more as the titular superhero, and fans will be able to see the movie again just over a month after its initial cinema release.

The sequel will be available to rent or own digitally from April 28, coming complete with lots of bonus content.

The extra content includes multiple featurettes, deleted scenes, extended cuts and commentary from director David F. Sandberg.

The film has received a mixed response since its release, struggling to perform at the box office. Shazam 2 grossed $30.5 million in its first weekend, significantly lower than the $53.5 million made by the 2019 film's opening.

The film also struggled critically, sitting at 49% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing. In its 2-star review, Digital Spy described Shazam 2 as "a slog of a sequel with a couple of bright spots".

However the harsh critic responses don't mean the film has been completely panned by DC fans, judging by the 86% score on the review aggregator.

The film's cast have also responded to the negative feedback, with Levi and Sandberg urging moviegoers to make up their own minds.

Rachel Zegler, who played Atlas' daughter Anthea, has also called out the "senselessly mean" criticism online.

"Hey our film is actually really good! but mostly i just absolutely loved making it and the people i met whilst doing so :) go see it! give it a chance," Zegler wrote on Twitter.

"Some people out there and just being… senselessly mean. and it's unnecessary," she continued.

"And i know, i know, 'if you can't handle the heat…' and all that nonsense, and you're right. but our film is actually very good. it's just cool to hate on fun nowadays. that's okay. we're good."
