Shrek 5 gets an exciting update from Eddie Murphy
Shrek's Eddie Murphy has provided an update on the fifth movie.
Following the success of Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots: The Last Wish two years ago, the Donkey voice actor recently discussed the future of the animated franchise with Collider.
"We started doing Shrek 4 or 5 months ago," he revealed, referring to the follow-up to 2010's Shrek Forever After.

"I recorded the first act and we'll be doing it this year, we'll finish it up. Shrek is coming out, and Donkey's gonna have his own movie. We're gonna do Donkey as well," the comedy legend went on to tease.
"So we're gonna do a Shrek, and we're doing a Donkey [movie]."
Asked if the two projects were being made concurrently, he then clarified: "No, not at the same time. I started recording Shrek, I think it's coming out in 2025, and we're doing a Donkey one next."

Meanwhile, before Shrek 5 was officially confirmed, Murphy expressed to Etalk just how much he'd like to jump back into that fantastical world of ogres and princesses.
"I'd absolutely be open if they ever came with another Shrek, I'd do it in two seconds. I love Donkey," he began. "You know, they did Puss in Boots movies. I was like, 'They should have did a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain't funny as the Donkey.'
"I would do a Donkey movie. I would do another Shrek in two seconds," the star reiterated.
