Skydivers Recreate Quidditch Match In Freefall

Until someone invents the Nimbus 2000, this could be the nearest you’ll get to a real-life game of Quidditch.

A group of Harry Potter (and skydiving) fans have taken the extreme route and set up a match while in the middle of a freefall.

Tussling with their broomsticks while hurtling towards the ground, and dressed in Gryffindor and Ravenclaw colours, the teams grapple for the Quaffle.

Though there’s no sign of a ‘snitch’, the winged ball from the fictional sport, once the Quaffle is secured, a Gryffindor player makes a beeline from the goal, a hoop held by two other players.

Securing the points, there’s much whooping before their parachutes are opened.

The impressive stunt was put together as an advert for the South American phone company ETB.

Quidditch can be played in slightly less alarming circumstances, it should be pointed out.

In fact, a documentary movie about real-life Quidditch teams, called ’Mudbloods’, was released in 2014, about the team at UCLA who took part in the Fifth Annual Quidditch World Cup in New York.

Another documentary film, called 'Fly the Movie: Journey to Frankfurt’ was successfully crowdfunded last month, which follows the British Quidditch team on its journey to the 2016 Quidditch World Cup in Frankfurt.
