Smallville star defends The Flash's controversial Christopher Reeve cameo

Smallville's Lionel Luthor actor John Glover has hit back at fan reaction to the Christopher Reeve cameo in The Flash movie.
The Flash has not long been on the big screen and has received a mixed reaction from DC fans.
In the new The Flash movie, there is a CGI clip showcasing Christopher Reeve as Superman and Helen Slater as Supergirl.
Let’s just rip this bandaid right off.
What are your thoughts on this?

It feeds into the film's theme of exploring the multiverse. All Star Superfan Podcast had an issue with the scene though and stated that "#ChristopherReeve would have absolutely hated this. It goes against everything he stood for".
Smallville star Glover squashed that concern and tweeted: "I think it's up to his family/estate and not anyone else. Chris' dedication to the franchise led him to Smallville as Dr. Swann."
He added: "He loved Superman and would have wanted to be included. And this is from someone who worked with him in plays and on Smallville."
All Star Superfan Podcast's original statement was tweeted along with a movie still with the caption: "Let's just rip this band-aid right off. What are your thoughts on this? I personally think it's one of the worst things I've seen in any film ever. #ChristopherReeve would have absolutely hated this. It goes against everything he stood for. It's insulting (Alan) #Superman."

A back-and-forth took place online between the two parties, and in Glover's closing tweet, he said: "Chris loved supporting the [Superman] universe."
Reeve played Superman in four movies as well as appearing in two episodes of Smallville.
Glover's Lionel Luthor was the father of Lex Luthor, with the actor appearing in 145 episodes.

The Flash has been struggling at the box office and landed on the big screen during ongoing controversy involved Ezra Miller.
However, many fans enjoyed the movie with its multiple cameos and guest stars, including Michael Keaton reprising his Batman, Ben Affleck also appearing as Batman, and Jeremy Irons’ Alfred adding to its allure.
The Flash is out in cinemas.
