Spider-Man's Tom Holland named EE BAFTA Rising Star 2017
Tom Holland has been named the EE Rising Star of 2017 at the 70th EE British Academy Film Awards.
The 20-year-old star took a break from filming ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ to collect the award at the Royal Albert Hall, thanking his family, friends, and agent for their support, citing his breakthrough role in the ‘Billy Elliot’ stage play as a landmark moment in his career.
Holland was up against Ruth Negga (‘Loving’), Anya Taylor-Joy (‘Split’), Laia Costa (‘Victoria’) and Lucas Hedges (‘Manchester By The Sea’) for the prestigious title previously won by James McAvoy, Eva Green, and Tom Hardy, but emerged victorious after the public voting ended.
It was revealed over the weekend that Holland’s Spider-Man, who made his debut in 2016’s ‘Captain America: Civil War’, would appear in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ during a Facebook Live broadcast on Robert Downey Jr.’s fan page that you can watch here.
