'Spiral: From The Book Of Saw' gets a creepy new poster
Lionsgate has today launched a new international poster for upcoming horror film Spiral: From The Book Of Saw.
Coming to cinemas in May, Spiral is the latest film in the Saw franchise that kicked off in 2004 with the era-defining James Wan film.
It stars US comedian Chris Rock, who originated the idea for the series reboot, as a detective investigating a series of gruesome murders. Rock’s character Detective Banks looms large in the new poster, standing before a covered body laid at the foot of a huge red spiral painted on a wall.
Anyone familiar with the Saw films, which has spawned eight films to date – not counting Spiral – will recognise the circular pattern from the cheek of the Jigsaw killer’s puppet Billy.
The last film in the series, Jigsaw, was released in 2017. It earned a worldwide total of $102.9 million against a budget of $10 million.
Rock has promised his new take on the series will be funnier than previous instalments.

“I love Saw, but I was like ‘wow, it has almost no humour at all.’ So, it seemed like a good place … good fertile ground,” Rock told IGN in January, adding that this doesn’t detract from gore and scares that has made the series so popular.
“By the way, the new Saw, I’ve seen like a rough cut. It’s still Saw… it’s bloody, it’s gory, but there’s like a sprinkling of humour here and there. We’re not revamping it, it’s not Scary Movie, it’s Saw.”
Synopsis: A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in SPIRAL, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the centre of the killer’s morbid game.
SPIRAL stars Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson, and is produced by the original SAW team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg & Pete Goldfinger.
Spiral comes to cinemas in May.
