'Star Trek: Picard' shares key art ahead of Comic Con debut
Amazon Prime Video today unveiled the official key art for upcoming original series Star Trek: Picard. Watch the fancy motion poster above.
This new Star Trek spin-off series features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation, from 1987-1994 and across four films. The new series will follow this iconic character into the next chapter of his life.
Talking about his character Stewart said: “He may not be a captain any more. He may not be the Jean-Luc you recognise and know so well. It may be a very different individual, someone who has been changed by his experiences.”
Stewart seems to have brought some of his personal life into the project as the key art shows Picard has a dog by his side.
Anyone who follows Stewart on social media will know he’s a keen advocate for animal rescue and the ASPCA, and has recently fostered three pitbulls as pets: Ginger Gurl, Emma, and Lenny.

The dog in the key art looks suspiciously like a pitbull or a cross - the actor’s favoured breeds - but it’s not clear if it’s one of Stewart’s own pups.
Alongside Stewart, Star Trek: Picard will also star Alison Pill (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), Michelle Hurd (Blindspot), Evan Evagora, Isa Briones (Takers), Santiago Cabrera (Big Little Lies) and Harry Treadaway (The Lone Ranger).
Star Trek: Picard has recently been described as a "10-episode movie" by Next Generation star Jonathan Frakes, who is directing episodes 3 and 4.
He said: "It is a very ambitious approach to television. I think the fans are going to be thrilled and excited and surprised."
Last week, it was announced that Star Trek: Picard will make its San Diego Comic-Con debut during the ‘Enter the Star Trek Universe’ panel on Saturday 20th July from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Pacific Time in Hall H.
The panel will feature Stewart, Pill, Hurd, Evagora, Isa Briones, Cabrera and Treadaway, alongside executive producers Alex Kurtzman (Sleepy Hollow), Michael Chabon (John Carter), Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) and Heather Kadin (Star Trek: Discovery).
Star Trek: Picard will stream on Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories around the world.
