Star Wars 7 Props Tease New Characters

New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ images give us a glimpse of its impressive props.

And they might even tease a few new characters.

Revealed by the folks at Wired, this impressive gallery depicts everything from blasters to Stormtrooper helmets. But there are some ‘Star Wars 7’ props which even hint at a story we still have no idea about.

Hidden amongst images of blasters and lightsabers, we find Dasha Promenti’s blaster – a pistol-like weapon with an odd, circular-shaped trigger.

But who is Dasha Promenti, and will they play an important part in ‘The Force Awakens’?

Considering the simple and almost-makeshift look of the blaster pistol, it seems to be a weapon which could easily belong to a patron of Maz Kanata’s space pirate hideaway… but how they fit into the plot of ‘Star Wars 7’ remains to be seen.

And that’s not all – there’s also the ‘Huttsplitter Blaster’.

A rifle-like weapon, it looks as though the Hutt Cartel – made famous by original trilogy gangster Jabba the Hutt – might reappear in ‘The Force Awakens’. But considering the rather visceral name of ‘Huttsplitter’, they might not be quite as powerful as they once were.

Or at least, they’re attracting the attention of those who might want to use the Huttsplitter.

As well as these cool new weapons, we also find some classic designs which have been re-imagined… and there’s a good reason for that.

“The arms in the Star Wars universe evolve over time,” they explain. “Consider the iconic lightsaber—an elegant weapon from a more civilized age—which has morphed into Kylo Ren’s fire-breathing crossguard weapon.”

Amongst these awesome ‘Star Wars 7’ props, we find our first look at the First Order’s TIE Fighter pilot helmets… and it seems they’ve come a long way.

(Note: The red stripes are the mark of the Special Forces TIE Fighter pilots)

A lot sleeker than the original TIE pilot helmets, these new additions to the First Order’s armoury certainly paint an interesting picture of the evolution of warfare in the galaxy far, far away.

And you might be forgiven for thinking Steve Jobs had a hand in the First Order’s design.

Thankfully, it’s not long before we get to see all of these awesome ‘Star Wars’ props in action… and we’ll finally found out who is Dasha Promenti, as well as how a Huttsplitter works and who might have one.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ heads to cinemas on 17 December 2015.
