Star Wars 7 Trailer Teases Major Character Death?

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ may have revealed its first casualty… as a major character’s death scene is potentially seen in the new trailer.

There are plenty of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments during the full ‘Star Wars 7’ trailer… including our first look at Poe Dameron’s black X-Wing and even a nod to the classic ‘Star Wars’ character, Boba Fett.

But did we all just witness the death of an original trilogy hero?

Around 1 minute 37 seconds into the trailer, after some rather explosive scenes featuring heroes old and new, we find Daisy Ridley’s character Rey, crying uncontrollably over what some fans think may be the body of an original trilogy character.

But who is it? Well, the prevailing theory is that we’ve just seen the death of Chewbacca.

A closer look at the film still reveals a furry shoulder in the bottom right corner of the screen, with what looks like Chewie’s signature bandolier slung over it.

Does this mean that’s Chewbacca’s shoulder?

Probably… but I’m not sure he’s the one Rey is crying over.

In the opposite corner, there’s another blurry, out-of-focus mound. And while some believe it could be Chewbacca’s knapsack, I can’t help wondering whether we’re actually seeing Han’s crumpled leather jacket, with Chewie standing over it.

That’s right folks – is this actually the death of Han Solo?

Well, maybe. But if this is Han’s jacket, there’s still no indication of a body. And that could mean that our favourite scruffy-looking-nerf-herder has committed an act of heroism in order to save his new friends. Or it could mean that his life of crime has finally caught up with him.

Of course, the other major character seen wearing a similar leather jacket is newcomer Finn. But surely they won’t kill him off… will they?

Either way, it’s only two short months before we find out what it’s all about. And whether or not some of our favourite ‘Star Wars’ heroes make it out alive.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ heads to cinemas on 17 December 2015.
