Star Wars: Episode 7 set for IMAX release

'Star Wars: Episode 7' is coming to IMAX.

Disney has revealed its highly-anticipated 'Star Wars' sequel will be headed to the super-sized screens as part of an expanded multi-picture deal between the film studio and IMAX theatre network.

The other films confirmed for an IMAX release include Marvel’s 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (April 2014), 'Maleficent' (May 2014), Marvel’s 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (August 2014), and Marvel’s 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' (May 2015), Tomorrowland (May 2015) and  Star Wars: Episode VII (December 2015).

“Disney has enjoyed a terrific ongoing collaboration with IMAX, and we are thrilled to extend this relationship with a collection of exciting, highly anticipated cinematic events that are perfect for the immersive IMAX format,” said Alan Bergman, President, The Walt Disney Studios.

IMAX screens are found around the world, offering film-fans the chance to see movies on the biggest screens possible, thanks to its patented technology that allows for projection of higher-resolution images and sounds than previously possible.

'Star Wars: Episode 7' is coming to cinemas on 18 December, 2015.
