What to expect for Chelsea in Bloom 2024
Chelsea in Bloom, London's largest free-to-attend festival of flowers that coincides with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, is back for 2024.
Produced by Cadogan in collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), Chelsea in Bloom extends the Chelsea Flower Show out into the local neighbourhood, and its a delight for passersby to enjoy.
From 20th - 26th May, more than 120 businesses, shops and restaurants will showcase the most stunning floral displays, with florists, designers and horticulturalists using their creativity to transform the streets of Chelsea with imaginative flower arrangements.
This year the theme is 'Floral Feasts', taking inspiration from culinary favourites, memorable food scenes and characters across film, literature, history and art. There'll be an enormous floral The Very Hungry Caterpillar on Sloane Square, a famous scene from The Lady & The Tramp on Sloane Street, and a reimagined version of Winnie-the-Pooh on King’s Road, to name a few.
Chelsea in Bloom will partner with two special charities this year:
The Felix Project, fighting against hunger and food waste across London (visitors will be able to pledge donations throughout the week from Sloane Square)
The Confetti Club, granting another life for leftover fresh petals as confetti, through which they raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
With fresh flowers, plants, foliage, and other decorative materials, it's the bigger the better when it comes to Chelsea in Bloom.
What should I look out for?
Everything! Chelsea in Bloom draws crowds of locals and tourists alike who appreciate the beauty of flowers and the artistry behind the displays. You can stroll through the streets, peruse shops, dine at coffee shops and enjoy the vibrant floral creations around the area. The event takes place until Sunday 26th May, allowing people to fully immerse themselves in all things floral.
How can I tour the displays?
Chelsea in Bloom is free for all to enjoy. We recommend choosing the day and time you wish to explore the displays; weekdays tend to be less crowded than weekends. It covers various streets and locations in Chelsea, so look for a map or guide provided by the official Chelsea in Bloom website.
Take your camera along and use the hashtag #ChelseaInBloom so everyone can see your finds.
Can I vote?
There are lots of awards up for grabs. Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit awards will be awarded to participants by RHS judges alongside Lifestyle Judges. There will also be awards for ‘Best Floral Display’, ‘Highly Commended’ and ‘Innovation Award’.
The public get to have their say too, by voting for the ‘People’s Champion’. The online voting will open from 5pm on Monday 20th and close at midnight on Thursday 23rd, so make sure to vote for your favourite!
