Suicide Squad Has "Important" Mid-credits Scene

The post-credits scene has become a staple of contemporary superhero cinema - but, while reportedly there’s no bumper at the very end of ‘Suicide Squad,’ there will be a key epilogue midway.

ComicBook.com have confirmed that a “pivotal and important” extra scene pops up midway through the end titles on the Warner Bros/DC Comics super-villain movie, although they have given no spoilers on what the moment entails.

This is a first for the DC Extended Universe, as neither of the two existing films in the series - 'Man of Steel’ and 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ - featured any such extra scenes.

But as the DC brand is now really getting in motion - 'Suicide Squad’ marking the third entry in the DCEU, set to be followed by 'Wonder Woman’ and 'Justice League’ in 2017 - it’s not surprising that the filmmakers may be keen to build anticipation for future entries.

Of course, it’s open to speculation as to whether this means we can expect 'Suicide Squad’s mid-credits bumper to be a teaser for 'Wonder Woman’ or 'Justice League’ - but if so, it would seem more likely to be for 'Justice League,’ as 'Wonder Woman’ is a prequel set 100 years in the past.

Perhaps ironically, it was one of the most lamented superhero films of our time - 'X-Men 3: The Last Stand’ - which got the ball rolling on the post-credits scene trend, but it really caught on after Marvel’s 'Iron Man.’

'Suicide Squad’ opens on 5 August.
