Sydney Sweeney lands next lead movie role in new thriller
Sydney Sweeney has landed her next lead movie role in new thriller The Housemaid.
The movie, which is also lining up The Dropout’s Amanda Seyfried, is based on the bestselling 2022 book by Freida McFadden.
It follows the Anyone But You star’s character Millie, a struggling woman who gets a fresh start as a housemaid to wealthy couple Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew – though she soon discovers their dangerous family secrets.

The Housemaid will be directed by Bridesmaids’ Paul Feig and has been adapted by The Boys’ Rebecca Sonnenshine, while Sweeney and Seyfried are on board as executive producers (via Deadline).
Sweeney shared the news on her Instagram account, posting a clip of herself reading the book and looking shocked.
“Tell me about yourself, Millie #TheHousemaidMovie - coming soon!!” she captioned the post.
Lionsgate’s co-president Erin Westerman said of the project: “Part of the fun of the book was imagining the cast while we read it, and Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are perfect for Millie and Nina – they’re both mysterious, nuanced, and incredibly skilled at becoming characters who don’t reveal everything right away.
