Variety say that sources close to the film confirm Letterman’s attachment, and that a recent presentation to studio Warner Bros convinced them that the ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ and ‘Goosebumps’ director was the right person for the job. This will be the second big screen take on the hugely popular role-playing game created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in 1974. The first ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ feature film, from director Courtney Solomon (on board the reboot as producer), was a critical and commercial flop on release in 2000.
The celebrated fantasy role-playing game is getting the big screen treatment again - and now we know who’s going to be the de facto dungeon master.
