What to watch: The best films new to streaming from Dungeons and Dragons to She Said
The Monkey King and Reinventing Elvis: The '68 Comeback Special are also out now
Wondering what to watch this weekend? Well, you're in luck because some of the biggest films from the past year are finally making their way to streaming services this week.
From a critically acclaimed high fantasy film to a thought-provoking drama, and even an epic sci-fi film, there is a lot of films to choose from for a perfect movie night.
Here is everything you need to know about the movies you'll be able to watch from the comfort of your own home.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves | Sky Cinema, NOW, and Paramount+ (Pick of the Week)
Surprise hit Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Amongst Thieves is coming to Sky, NOW and Paramount+ this week, so viewers will have a number of places they can enjoy the film.
The film is based on the iconic tabletop game and it follows a bard and barbarian (played by Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez) as they seek revenge on the person who tricked them after escaping prison, but it won't be an easy task so they put together a crew to right the wrongs of their past.
With madcap humour, a surprisingly heartwarming core, and a killer villain performance from Hugh Grant, add this to your watch list immediately.
She Said | Sky Cinema and NOW
Another powerful film that is being made available to watch this week is She Said, the 2022 drama about New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, the journalists who broke the Harvey Weinstein scandal that led to the launching of the #MeToo movement.
It is a vital viewing experience and an important film to understand the current political climate and the quest to end rampant misogyny within Tinseltown and beyond.
The Monkey King | Netflix
Netflix has a new animation for its younger audience members this week, and the film is based on the Chinese literary classic Journey to the West.
Brought to life by Stephen Chow, the film follows Monkey's (Jimmy O. Yang) quest to become an immortal king which will take him on a dangerous journey, and he's joined along the way by a peasant named Lin (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport).
Reinventing Elvis: The '68 Comeback Special | Paramount+
A significant moment in Elvis Presley's career, the 1968 comeback special marked a time for change for the musician as it saw him take back control of his legacy.
In this new documentary viewers will be taken behind-the-scenes of the legendary TV special and how it was made, a subject that is touched upon in Baz Luhrmann's recent biopic.
The best films to watch on TV this weekend
For those looking for something to watch on terrestrial TV instead, there's also a number of good films that will be shown including the critically-acclaimed Benedict Cumberbatch western The Power of the Dog. Recently removed from Netflix, the BBC (who co-produced the film) now has exclusive streaming rights to the film for one year.
Other films worth a watch include comedy classic Clueless, Dolly Parton's hit film Steel Magnolias and the foul-mouthed superhero flick Kick-Ass.
