It looks as though Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Alien’ is dead. Neill Blomkamp, the director of ‘Chappie’ and ‘District 9’, wowed sci-fi fans a couple of years back with some impressive concept art for his planned ‘Alien’ sequel. Planning to bring Ripley, Newt and Hicks back to the franchise, the ambitious project looked to be a huge hit with ‘Alien’ fans.
The former Dr Grace Augustine seems to be of the opinion that our long-delayed return to Pandora will be well worth the wait. Sigourney Weaver, who portrayed the human scientist in James Cameron’s 2009 ultra-blockbuster ‘Avatar’ ($2.88 billion worldwide in case you forgot), is set to return in at least some of the four sequels the ever-ambitious filmmaker has planned. Whilst little to no plot details have been revealed on the ‘Avatar’ sequels, it is rumoured the films will centre on Sam Worthington’s Jake and Zoe Saldana’s Neytiri raising their children on Pandora, whilst still in conflict with the humans.
Just when Sir Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien: Covenant’ has been gathering momentum and dominating the ‘Alien’ franchise headlines, Michael Biehn’s only gone and revealed some juicy details on the plot for ‘Alien 5′. Biehn, the actor who played Corporal Hicks in James Cameron’s ‘Aliens’, had a lot to say regarding ‘Alien 5′ (as per its working title), declaring it was still very much happening. Not only does this, as he previously specified, ignore ‘Alien 3′ and ‘Alien: Resurrection’, but it plays out a very different timeline whereby both Hicks and Newt survive the crash-landing in David Fincher’s ‘Alien 3′.
