Thor: Ragnarok Will Introduce Hulk Gladiator Armour

Some big Marvel news coming out of San Diego Comic-Con this weekend concerns ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and the inclusion of a certain giant green Avenger.

With the unveiling of a brand new logo for the upcoming movie (you can see further down in the article), which has a design aesthetic not too dissimilar from the retro font used in a 1980s video game, the juciest snippet of info was on display for all to see: the Gladiator Hulk Armour costume from the upcoming film. And it emerged courtesy of Marvel’s Ryan Penagos, who shared it on Twitter and Instagram.

Naturally, this reveal got a lot of fans rather excited, especially after we’ve all seen how powerful Hulk is in ‘Avengers Assemble’ and ‘Age of Ultron’. At SDCC, fans were able to sneak a glimpse at this epic-looking attire that includes a gladiator-styled helmet, shoulder protection, as well as a giant axe and hammer for him to swing about. Take a look at it below.

Comic-Con showcased the awesome-looking props from the third ‘Thor’ film which were flown in from the Australia set to make an appearance.

With a new solo Hulk movie never likely to happen, Mark Ruffalo (the actor who plays the angry monster and human form of Dr. Bruce Banner) appearing in ‘Ragnarok’ seems to be the compromise and quite possibly the nearest non-Avengers movie we’d get to ‘Planet Hulk’.

The idea of Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk teaming-up in a sort of buddy space movie is potentially a great idea, especially with an exciting supporting cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Karl Urban, Tessa Thompson, and Jaimie Alexander.

It’s unclear in what capacity Hulk dons his gladiatorial gear in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, but what fans will know is how it’s been taken from the ‘Planet Hulk’ Marvel Comic series that began in 2006. Here, his unruly demeanour was deemed unsafe for Earth, so was tricked into being jettisoned into space. After accidentally entering a wormhole, he finds himself on the planet Sakaar, where he’s taken into slavery and forced to fight in a gladiator arena.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is in UK cinemas from 27 October, 2017.
