Tom Hanks will star in an adaptation of the graphic novel Here this autumn.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis for the big screen, whose most recent collaboration with the two-time Oscar-winner was 2022's live-action Disney fairytale Pinocchio, the multi-generational story of Here covers the events of a single room and its inhabitants across many years.

Having shot in 2023, it's scheduled for a limited release in the US on November 22 before expanding internationally five days later (via Variety).

Alongside Hanks, the likes of Paul Bettany (WandaVision), Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone), Michelle Dockery (This Town) and Robin Wright (Damsel) are also onboard.

Discussing the movie's digital de-ageing aspect, Zemeckis shared in a statement: "I've always been attracted to technology that helps me to tell a story. With Here, the film simply wouldn't work without our actors seamlessly transforming into younger versions of themselves.

"Metaphysic's AI tools do exactly that, in ways that were previously impossible! Having tested every flavour of face replacement and de-ageing technology available today, Metaphysic are clearly the global leaders in feature-quality AI content and the perfect choice for this incredibly challenging, emotional film."

Earlier this month, actress Wright appeared on This Morning to tease what fans can expect.

Referring to a Forrest Gump reunion, she said: "The whole band got back together, Robert Zemeckis directed it, Eric Roth wrote it. It was incredible, reuniting 30 years later, it was like no time had passed. There was nothing awkward about it.

"It's never been done before, the way it is shot, which is it's original content. But it's called Here because everything happens over all periods of time here. It's very different."

Here is released in US cinemas on November 22.
