Tom Holland and Anya Taylor-Joy lead BAFTA Rising Star nominations
The new Spider-Man, Brit actor Tom Holland, is among the nominees for this year’s EE Rising Star Award at the BAFTAs.
Holland is joined on the list by model-turned-actress Anya Taylor-Joy, star of ‘Loving’ Ruth Negga, Spanish actress Laia Costa, and US actor Lucas Hedges.
The award is voted for by the public, and the winner will be announced at the BAFTAs in London on February 12.
Of his nomination, Hedges, who stars opposite Casey Affleck in the hotly-tipped ‘Manchester By The Sea’, said: “It’s really exciting to be recognised for an award that has nominated many of my favourite actors over the years.
“I’ve always been enamoured with English culture and have dreamed of living in England, so this nomination is particularly meaningful for me.”
Tom Hardy, Eva Green, Shia LaBeouf, Kristen Stewart and John Boyega have all won the award, since it was introduced in 2009, the first recipient being James McAvoy.
Added Taylor-Joy, who starred in acclaimed horror ‘The Witch’: “I can’t quite put into words how it feels to be in the company of such talent, past and present. All my love and gratitude.”
