The live-action remake for How to Train Your Dragon has been delayed due to the ongoing actors' strike.

According to Deadline, Universal has decided to push the film back from its March 2025 premiere, with the film now set to be released on June 13, 2025.

Announced earlier this year, the live-action remake is set to see Dean DeBlois - who wrote and directed the original animated trilogy - back in the director's chair. DeBlois is also producing the film alongside Marc Platt (La La Land) and Adam Siegel.

The films are based on Cressida Cowell's books of the same name, which follow a young viking named Hiccup who sets out kill a dragon in order to prove that he is a man.

However he later ends up befriending a dragon named Toothless and hopes to teach his village that there is more to the mythical creatures than they thought.

Casting has already begun for the remake, with The Black Phone's Mason Thames set to star as Hiccup, while The Last of Us' Nico Parker will play the role of Astrid. The characters were voiced by Jay Baruchel and America Ferrera respectively in the animated originals.
