Venom 3 has confirmed its official title – and has also been given an earlier release date to boot.

The third instalment in the Sony Marvel franchise – now dubbed Venom: The Last Dance – has had a few release date shuffles in the last year, having initially been slated to hit cinemas in October this year.

It was then moved forward to July 2024, before being pushed back to November due to last year's Hollywood strikes.

However, things have now come full circle with the movie now set for release in its original month of October – more specifically October 25 (moved from November 8).

The new movie will see Tom Hardy return to the role of Eddie Brock (aka Venom), with writer Kelly Marcel set to step up to both direct and write The Last Dance.

Among the new cast additions for the threequel are Ted Lasso's Juno Temple, who teased last month that they were "coming close to an end" of filming.

"It's been a wild, wonderful ride," she added to Variety.

"It's so new to me. It's a big set! This is crazy. It's been so much fun and I got to work with such cool people. I've been so lucky in my career to just have the most incredible casts. I can't wait for it to get out into the world. I think it's going to be a good one."

She added of Hardy: "His relationship to how he feels about Venom and Eddie together… it's something that feels really close to his heart. It matters to him. I don't know if anyone else could play Venom. That's a tough pair of shoes to follow."

Venom: The Last Dance is set for release on October 25.
