Watch Karen Gillan Shave Her Head For Guardians of the Galaxy
Karen Gillan, the former ‘Doctor Who’ companion turned Hollywood star, shaved her head last year to play the role of Nebula in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, and now finally, we have a video of the moment it happened.
Watch the video from her personal Vimeo channel below.
Clearly terrified about losing her trademark auburn locks, the Scottish actress stumbles over her words as her hair, carefully clipped up into individual bunches, are snipped away one at a time.
"I can barely bear to touch it because it feels weird," she says halfway through.
"It’s actually kind of soft," she adds once she plucks up the courage to touch her tufty barnet… and then the clippers come out.
Once fully sheared, she breaks into a verse from Sinead O’Connor’s cover of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, in tribute to the Irish singer’s preferred bald look.
Gillan told Yahoo earlier this year that she found the shearing “really liberating”, before explaining that the hair and make-up team on ‘Star Wars: Episode 7’ were kind enough to make her a wig out of her shorn locks.
'Guardians of the Galaxy' recently hit £20m at the UK and Ireland box office making it the third biggest Marvel film over here behind 'Marvel's Avengers Assemble' and 'Iron Man 3'.
