Yahoo Movies Watch sweary first trailer for Olivia Colman's new movie
Wicked Little Letters will become your most-anticipated movie of 2024 when you watch the hilarious first trailer, which you can check out above.
The trailer opens with a policeman (Hugh Skinner) reading out a letter to Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) which isn't particularly kind on her. "You really are a tricksy old f**ker and you are a sad stinky bitch," it reads, and the trailer only gets more sweary from there.
At one point, Edith and her neighbour Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley), who Edith believes sent the letters, are insulting each other in the street – and who doesn't want to see two of the best actors around doing that?
Things only escalate from there as fellow residents start to receive wicked letters filled with filthy insults and Rose is charged. But the town's women, led by Police Office Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan), start to investigate as they believe Rose is not to blame.
We'll have to wait until Wicked Little Letters is released in UK and Irish cinemas on February 23, 2024 to see who's really behind the rude letters.
It might seem like pure fiction, but Wicked Little Letters – directed by Thea Sharrock and written by Jonny Sweet – was actually inspired by a true scandal that hit an English seaside town in the 1920s.
Colman and Buckley reunited for the new movie having starred together in Netflix's The Lost Daughter. They're joined by a stellar supporting cast that includes Timothy Spall, Joanna Scanlan, Malachi Kirby, Gemma Jones and Lolly Adefope.

Before we see Colman on gloriously sweary form, she'll be seen this Christmas in Wonka playing one of the villains of the new movie from Paddington director Paul King.
King praised Colman's performance, stating: "I think you can tell from the trailer she's not the romantic lead, she's one of the villains. She's a great villain, she's terrific."
Wicked Little Letters is released in UK and Irish cinemas on February 23, 2024.
