Gina Prince-Bythewood's action-packed film The Woman King is a historical drama not to be missed. Set in the West African kingdom of Dahomey in the 1820s it centres on an all-female group of warriors led by Viola Davis' General Nanisca.

As war begins to brew between the Dahomey and Oyo tribes, General Nanisca trains a new group of warriors in the ways of the Agojie and things take a darker turn when Portuguese slave traders make an alliance with the Oyo.

Fresh off her success in Succession, Sarah Snook returns to the small screen for horror film Run Rabbit Run, in which she portrays a single mother, Sarah, whose daughter Mia (Lily LaTorre) begins to tell her she has memories from a past life.

Mia believes she is Sarah's sister Alice, who went missing at the age of seven. As events unfold, Sarah becomes increasingly frightened of what her daughter is capable of doing.

Family favourites like A Knight's Tale will air on Channel 4 on Saturday, 1 July, while on Sunday Ella Enchanted is being screened on ITV2 and Finding Dory will air on BBC One.

For those looking for something a bit grittier to sink their teeth into, Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies will air on BBC One on Sunday 2 July at 9pm, while horror film Ready or Not airs on Film4 at 11.40pm on Saturday 1 July.
