Why Gwyneth Paltrow forgets which Marvel movies she is in
Over the summer, the online community reacted uproariously when they discovered that Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t know she had starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Jon Favreau made this revelation to the Oscar winner when she appeared on his Netflix cooking show The Chef Show, which provoked Paltrow to respond, “Spider-Man? We weren’t in Spider-Man.” Paltrow was under the illusion that the scene in question, which comes right at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, was actually for one of the Avengers movies.

But Paltrow has now given a pretty solid reason for why she does’t know which Marvel movies she is in, telling Elle that she just hasn’t had the time to keep up with all 23 installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I never read stuff. But it is confusing because there are so many Marvel movies, and to be honest, I haven’t seen very many of them. It’s really stupid and I’m sorry, but I’m a 47-year-old mother.”
You really can’t argue with Paltrow’s reasoning, especially as the likes of Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Homecoming were all shot very, very close to each other.
Paltrow’s comments also might explain why she also keeps on forgetting who her Marvel co-stars are. I mean, there are quite a lot of them. Tom Holland and Sebastian Stan, twice, have both been on the receiving end of Paltrow forgetting that they’ve worked together.

Considering how Avengers: Endgame concluded, it remains to be seen whether Paltrow will actually return as Pepper Potts in future Marvel films. But even if she does, it is extremely likely that she won’t end up watching them anyway.
In the meantime, make sure to check out Paltrow in The Politician, all eight episodes of which are now available on Netflix.
