The World Cup of Stephen King: You have chosen the iconic author's best work
You can’t turn anywhere in Hollywood these days without bumping into a new Stephen King adaptation.
We’re just weeks away from the release of IT: Chapter Two, his The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep will be in cinemas in time for Halloween, and the first season of Castle Rock, the psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, comes to DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Download on 2 September.
To celebrate the long-awaited U.K. release of the show, from exec producers J.J. Abrams and Stephen King, and starring André Holland, Sissy Spacek, and Bill Skarsgård, we held a World Cup of Stephen King over on the @YahooMoviesUK Twitter account.
If you’re not familiar with the concept of a Twitter World Cup, it’s fairly easy to follow and get involved: We selected 32 of King’s most famous books from classics like Carrie and Pet Sematary all the way up to his more recent chillers like Mr. Mercedes and Finders Keepers.
Those 32 titles were divided into eight groups, and voted for via a series of Twitter polls over last few days, until a final vote decided which title is the won the Stephen King World Cup.
The handy graphic above should help explain.

Here’s some more blurb about Castle Rock:
From Stephen King (Mr. Mercedes, It, 11.22.63) and J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Westworld, 11.22.63), Castle Rock is a new psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse. Castle Rock, which first premiered on Hulu, is an original story that combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of Stephen King’s best loved works, while weaving an epic saga of darkness and light that’s played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. Castle Rock has been picked up for a second season on Hulu.
Castle Rock is based on characters and settings created by Stephen King. The series was created by Sam Shaw (Manhattan, Masters of Sex) and Dustin Thomason (Manhattan, Lie to Me) who serve as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Stephen King, Ben Stephenson (Westworld), Mark Lafferty (Genius, Manhattan, White Collar) and Liz Glotzer (The Good Fight, The Shawshank Redemption). The series is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Castle Rock: The Complete First Season comes to Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download on Monday.
