X-Men stars on Magneto spin-off, The Wolverine 2 and Apocalypse (exclusive)
Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender spill a load of new info about the X-sequel.
We were lucky enough to get extended time with James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, and Michael Fassbender to talk ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’.
You may have already seen our highlight clips of the guys doing Magneto impressions, talking Wolverine sequels, and generally larking about, but now we present the full video for your enjoyment.
Watch it above.
The actors who play Professor X, Wolverine, and Magneto respectively in Bryan Singer’s highly-anticipated sequel talked candidly about the franchise, so here’s some of the highlights.
Hugh Jackman’s son offered X-Men Apocalypse plot advice
The cast couldn’t tell us much about the next ‘X-Men’ film coming 2016, but Jackman revealed that his son Oscar has been giving director Bryan Singer some plot tips.
“I know a little bit [about ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’] actually.” Jackman shares with his co-stars, “You know how Bryan Singer doesn’t like to talk about it after a couple of drinks? I asked 'what’s going to happen?’

“And whoosh, out it came. My son [Oscar] happened to be at that dinner… and [Bryan] started talking about 'X-Men: Apocalypse’ which centres on a particular part of history, and he was talking about all of these character’s and Oscar who is a buff for that part of [‘X-Men’] history, he said ‘Bryan, none of that’s right actually.’ Bryan turned to me and said ‘I think Oscar Jackman just named the villain of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’."
Fassbender wants a Magneto spin-off
During the development of ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’, it was rumoured that Magneto would also get an origin story spin-off, something that Fassbender would be now be keen to take on himself.
“I would be interested [in a Magneto spin-off] sure,” says the Irishman, “Apparently there was a script floating around, but I haven’t read it."
Hugh Jackman will almost definitely return in ‘The Wolverine 2’
‘The Wolverine’ director James Mangold has confirmed he’s working on a solo sequel, but Hugh Jackman is still yet to confirm his involvement. However, he seems pretty confident he’ll don the claws once again.

“I am not signed on [for a Wolverine sequel], but if I was a betting man, I’d say there was a good chance [I’ll return]."
Young Xavier is in a dark place in ‘Days of Future Past’
When we last saw Xavier in ‘X-Men: First Class’ he was in pain from a stray bullet wound that had presumably damaged his back. It seems he’s still suffering in ‘Days of Future Past’.
“You learn that [Xavier] is a bit of a junkie for a while and that he’s not averse to swearing and having a bit of a potty mouth.” McAvoy tells us.
"He was a bit of a mess before he became a saint basically… You see a whole new side to him. He’s a mess, he’s falling apart, and he’s terrified, angry and confused.”
Quicksilver has the best stunt
Quicksilver, a new mutant imbued with super-human speed played by Evan Peters, makes his X-Men debut in ‘Days of Future Past’ and according to the guys, he has the most spectacular stunt involving a ‘wall of death’ style fairground ride.
“[The best stunt] got to be Quicksilver right?” Fassbender says.

“Running round the walls.” confirms McAvoy.
“I don’t know how much of that we can give away,” adds Jackman wary of spoilers, “There’s not a lot. But that is fun, funny, and there’s some stuff in there that I’ve not seen [on screen] before."
James McAvoy is a dangerous prankster
The actors entertained themselves on set with toy BB guns, but McAvoy accidentally shot co-star Josh Helman in the face leaving a mark which Bryan Singer will have to disguise in post-production.
“There were a couple of weeks where [Josh Helman who plays the young Stryker] has a big old scar right there [on his chin],” admits McAvoy, “He was trying to get me with a BB gun, and I flicked one out [a pellet] behind me and completely by chance managed to scar him!”
Fassbender says he also received a pellet in the neck from Nicholas Hoult who plays Beast. Remember kids, playing with toy guns is dangerous, even for X-Men.
Michael Fassbender and Sir Ian McKellen don’t share any scenes
The trailer showed that McAvoy comes face to face with his older self played by Sir Patrick Stewart in ‘Days of Future Past'. Those hoping for a similar Fassbender and Sir Ian McKellen encounter (they both play Magneto) will be disappointed.

“The only person who got to crossover [between old cast and new] was you [Hugh Jackman] and me” explains McAvoy.
Jackman’s Wolverine travels back in the time from a dystopian future in order the help the young X-Men team (introduced in ‘First Class’) to avoid making the same mistakes that lead to this apocalyptic future.
‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is in cinemas from 22 May, 2014.
