Ant-Man to be re-written

The now eight-year-old script needs to be brought in line with the rest of the Marvel properties

The script for the forthcoming Marvel Studios adaptation of the 'Ant-Man' comic books will have to be re-written, says boss Kevin Feige.

The current script for the film, written by Joe Cornish and 'Scott Pilgrim' helmsman Edgar Wright (Wright will also direct), is now eight-years-old, meaning that much has changed in the world of Marvel.

“Frankly, now we have to rewrite it to put it a little bit more into the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] because it was written before it existed,” Feige told Entertainment Weekly.

“We've talked about various names [to play the lead] over the past eight years but as you can imagine they keep changing as time goes by.

“But towards the end of this year, we'll buckle down and start casting and start refining the script, which is great and which is very Edgar.

“He has done a great job being incredibly true to the comics but is putting his own spin on it, so we'll be drawing on multiple mythologies for this one.”

Some brief test-footage of the film emerged in the 'Marvel Phase Two' preview video which emerged last month.

It's among a wealth of new projects from the studio, including plans for 'Doctor Strange', 'The Avengers 2' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

So far, it has a release date of November 6, 2015.
