In a short-but-sweet confirmation, the 'Machete' director told MTV News: “Bruce is back, you'll be seeing him.”
Willis joins an ever-expanding cast for the hard-boiled, CGI-heavy comic book adaptation.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is to join the cast as a 'cocky gambler' who takes on the biggest villain in Basin City, along with new additions Jeremy Piven, Dennis Haysbert, Juno Temple and Ray Liotta.
Mickey Rourke is back as the hulking, indestructible hardman Marv, Jessica Alba as Nancy Callahan, Rosario Dawson as Gail and Clive Owen (and, confusingly, also Josh Brolin) as Dwight.
Meanwhile, it's rumoured Angelina Jolie is lined-up for a 'pivotal role'.
The film is due out in October.
