'Jurassic Park 4' director Colin Trevorrow has gone on record to discuss the rumours surrounding his highly-guarded sequel.

After filming was halted by Universal - in order to slow down the production and position it for release in 2015 - there has been much talk about which direction it will head.

Early test shots tweeted by Trevorrow pointed at a return to Isla Nublar, the fictional island which provided the backdrop for the first iconic movie.

Meanwhile, one particularly enticing scenario put forward was that the film would return many years after the third film and unveil a fully operational dinosaur park... upon which things would go horribly wrong.

But the director is quick to let us know that rumours and conjecture are not to be taken as fact.

“I saw some of the rumours on the internet and I would have all kinds of red flags going off if I heard they were going to muzzle a T-Rex,” he told the Jurassic Park Podcast.

“So I would say don’t believe everything you read, there are way more insiders on the internet than there are in real life.”

He also spoke about his apprehension over whether there should be a fourth film at all.

“It’s important to make a movie for the fans but I also have to remember that there’s a lot of people who just couldn’t care less and need me to make a solid case for why the hell there’s a 'Jurassic Park 4' in the first place, and I want to make a movie for them too,” he added.

The director of indie hit 'Safety Not Guaranteed' finally set aside any concerns that he may be merely doing it for the money.

“This is not a paycheck gig for me and it’s not the movie that I’m making so I can make the movies that I really want to make. I actually want to make a kick-ass 'Jurassic Park' movie,” he said.

Production of the film, which is receiving much input from original helmsman Steven Spielberg, is due to start next year.

It's due sometime in 2015.
