Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen meet Elmo in New York

Sir Patrick Stewart has upped his social media game - posting an incredible made-for-viral photo to Twitter of the veteran thesp and best pal sir Ian McKellen posing with ‘Sesame Street’ icon Elmo.

We'd barely had enough time to recover from the 73-year-old’s brilliant “Quadruple take” tutorial that stormed the web last month. Give the internet a chance Pat!

Fellow ‘X-Men’ stars Stewart and Mckellen were taking time off from appearing in not one, but two Broadway plays together (‘No Man’s Land’ and ‘Waiting For Godot’), when they bumped into children’s TV legend Elmo in Time Square, New York.

It adds yet another 'best-of' moment to Sir Pat’s recently social media flourish, after the Professor X actor recently tied the knot with jazz singer girlfriend Sunny Onzell in a ceremony last week - announcing the news on Twitter with a cheeky ball-pit centred pic simply captioned “Yes, Married.”

Best of all though, McKellen, who plays Stewart’s mortal enemy Magneto in the ‘X-Men’ series, presided – becoming ordained to do the honours for his best friend.

Give this duo a sitcom.
