Spike Lee's Oldboy red-band trailer unveiled
First look at Josh Brolin-fronted remake.
The first trailer for Spike Lee's remake of the stunning South Korean revenge thriller 'Oldboy' has been unleashed, and it's unflinching stuff.
Hollywood had been eyeing a remake of Chan-Wook Park's film - part of his brutal Vengeance Trilogy – for years after its 2003 release brought it widespread critical acclaim.
Now with a solid cast, Spike Lee has taken the helm with his own interpretation.

The premise is simple. A man is inexplicably abducted and held in solitary confinement for 15 years (upped to 20 in Lee's version), and then released without explanation.
He then proceeds to seek his bloody vengeance upon his mysterious captor, while also trying to find his daughter.
Lee's version stars Josh Brolin as the imprisoned man Joe Doucett, with an impressive supporting cast featuring Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackon, Sharlto Copley, Michael Imperioli and Lance Reddick.

By this evidence, it appears Lee hasn't shied away from the eye-popping violence of Park's original, but it's not yet known if he's retained the first film's now infamous 'octopus scene'... don't ask.
It's due out in October.
