The highest-grossing actors of 2013 revealed

Forbes has released a list of the top grossing actors of 2013, and you may be surprised to discover who made the grade.

Based on the total global box-office takings an actor's films released over the last 12 months have amassed, the list has a few surprises up its sleeve.

Former wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson tops the list with an impressive £796 million thanks to 'Fast & Furious 6' raking in £483 million. He also appeared in 'GI Joe: Retaliation' and Michael Bay's 'Pain & Gain'. The late Paul Walker also appears at no. six thanks to the success of 'F&F 6'.

Next up it's Robert Downey Jr., not for the money he made for those abysmal phone ads, but for appearing in 'Iron Man 3', the highest-grossing movie of 2013 which made £735 million globally.

[The Hobbit sequel tops box office]

Rounding out the top 3 it's Steve Carrell with the moolah made by animated sequel 'Despicable Me 2' accounting for the majority of his £590 million global haul.
