X-Men to feature Richard Nixon, casts Peter Dinklage

Former president will be a character, while Bryan Singer confirms Game of Thrones star

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' will feature disgraced US president Richard Nixon as a character, according to director Bryan Singer.

He also said that 'it'll be the biggest movie I ever made', suggesting that the budget will be eye-watering in size.

“Part of it takes place in the 1970s,” he told Collider. “And Richard Nixon’s in it, that’ll be an interesting casting choice.

“There’ll also be some more science-fiction-type aspects to the story and, without giving it away, some technology that we haven’t seen yet in the X-Men universe.”

It's also been revealed that 'Game of Thrones' star Peter Dinklage has joined the cast.

Though his role is not specified, it's thought that he may be playing Puck, a character from Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight.

First appearing in 1983, Puck was originally a seven-foot tall adventurer who is shrunk to 3' 6” after releasing an ancient sorcerer from his prison inside the Black Blade of Baghdad.

He retained his power and agility despite his reduction in size, and was also granted immortality.

In his back-story, Puck also became a friend of novelist Ernest Hemingway and an accomplished bullfighter before joining Alpha Flight.

The film is due to start filming in April, before winding up in October.

The cast includes Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Patrick Stewart and Anna Paquin.
