11 Hollywood offspring stepping into the spotlight in 2018

Louis Serkis
The son of Andy Serkis and Lorraine Ashbourne has had a pretty good 2017 on screen already with roles in BBC series Taboo and SS-GB but 2018 will be even better. Louis, 13, will play the lead in Joe Cornish’s modern retelling of King Arthur The Kid Who Would Be King and in his father’s long-awaited The Jungle Book remake.

Maya Hawke
Maya is the 19-year-old daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke who will be making her screen debut in the BBC’s adaptation of Louisa May Allcott’s Little Women . The actress plays Jo March in the TV miniseries which is set to hit telly screens in January 2018.

Sosie Bacon
Sosie is the 25-year-old daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick who was seen in the popular Netflix adaptation of the YA novel 13 Reasons Why this year. The actress will next appear in the HBO drama Here, Now opposite as the biological daughter of Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter’s characters who have previously adopted children from around Somalia, Colombia and Vietnam.

Margaret Qualley
Andie MacDowell’s daughter has had a pretty decent 2017 already with a supporting role in Netflix’s Death Note and her series regular part in The Leftovers. The 23-year-old has a number of roles coming up in movies Io, Adam, Strange But True and Donnybrooke opposite Jamie Bell.

Angus Imrie
Celia Imrie and Benjamin Whitrow’s 23-year-old son has been quietly earning roles on the small screen in the likes of Kingdom on ITV and The Hollow Crown on BBC One. He’ll also be appearing in The King Who Would Be King next year as the younger version of Patrick Stewart’s Merlin.

Condola Rashād
The daughter of Phylicia Rashād (Creed, The Cosby Show) has enjoyed a pretty decent film career so far with a recurring role in the HBO series Billions, opposite Damien Lewis and Paul Giamatti, as well as a brilliant turn as Diana in Master of None on Netflix. Next year, Condola will appear in Come Sunday, Netflix’s feature biopic about the ostracized evangelical preacher Carlton Pearson as his wife Gina.

Noah Jupe
Noah is the son of filmmaker Chris Jupe and former Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh who has impressed already in this year’s Wonder opposite Julia Roberts and Jacob Tremblay. Nest year he’ll play Emily Blunt and John Krasinski’s son in A Quiet Place and appear in Will Ferrell’s Holmes and Watson film.

Maude Apatow
Maude famously appeared in her dad Judd Apatow’s movies Knocked Up and This is 40 (playing the daughter of her real life mother Leslie Mann) but will be branching away from the family film nest next year. The 19-year-old will star in The House of Tomorrow, opposite Asa Butterfield, and The Wizard of Lies writer Sam Levinson’s Assassination Nation, which co-stars Suki Waterhouse and Bill Skårsgard.

Farrah MacKenzie
Farrah is the daughter of small time actor Andy Mackenzie and could well have a career bigger than her dad. The 12-year-old this year appeared as Channing Tatum’s daughter in Logan Lucky and will be seen in Please Stand By Me opposite Dakota Fanning and Toni Collette.

Nico Parker
Nico (centre right) is the 13-year-old daughter of Thandie Newton and producer Ol Parker who has lucked out by landing her debut acting role in the Disney live-action remake of Dumbo . She’ll play one of the children of Colin Farrell’s Holt Carrier, Dumbo’s carer and trainer at the circus, in the movie directed by Tim Burton. The movie isn’t out until 2019 but she may well land some new roles in the time between.

Harley Quinn Smith
Thanks to her director father Kevin Smith, Harley has appeared in ever growing roles in his movies, most recently Yoga Hosers opposite Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp. Now the 18-year old will be seen in indie flick All These Small Moments , opposite Molly Ringwald and Jemima Kirke, her dad’s best mate Jay Mewes’ movie Madness in the Method as well as her dad’s small screen sequel to Mallrats , Mallbrats.
There are plenty of actors and actresses out there who followed in their parent’s footsteps into Hollywood.
From Rumer Willis to Dakota Johnson, Max Irons to Domhnall Gleeson, movies over the last few years have been filled with Hollywood offspring, and 2018 is definitely no different.
