Already pretty jazzed by that recent footage from ‘Alien: Covenant’? Well, you’ll be pleased to hear that its sequel is already written, and ready to go.

Though ‘Covenant’, the sequel to Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’, isn’t due out until May, it sounds like we may not have to wait as long for the next movie.

Spotted in a set visit piece published in the Sydney Morning Herald (spied by folks ay Alien and Predator fansite AVPGalaxy), Scott revealed that he is plotting his next move this year.

“While working on Alien: Covenant, he had the next instalment written so he is ready to keep advancing the saga,” the article reads.

“You’ve got to assume to a certain extent success and from that you’d better be ready,” says Scott. “You don’t want a two-year gap. So I’ll be ready to go again next year.”

So, as the set visits took place in June 2016, that would suggest that Scott is going to be neck-deep in alien slime and face-huggers sooner than we thought.

The gap between ‘Covenant’ and ‘Prometheus’ will be five years once it’s out in May, so in turn that would suggest a far shorter wait for the next movie.

‘Covenant’s first proper trailer landed last week, revealing the pretty large-scale horror in store for a group of planetary colonisers.

Starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, and James Franco, it’s released nationwide from May 12.
