Amelia Bullmore joins Jenna Coleman in The Jetty
Amelia Bullmore has joined the cast of new BBC crime thriller ‘The Jetty’.
The series, which comes from the mind of writer, creator and executive producer Cat Jones, will see the ‘Happy Valley’ star, 59, appear alongside Jenna Coleman, 37, in a four-part series that promises shocking twists and devastating revelations.
Other newly-announced cast members include ‘Shadow and Bone’ actor Archie Renaux, ‘The Great Escaper’ star Laura Marcus and ‘The Ballad of Renegede Nell’ star Bo Bragason.
Ruby Stokes, Tom Glynn-Carney, Weruche Opia, Matthew McNulty, Ralph Ineson, David Ajala, Nina Barker-Francis, Miya Ocego, Elliot Cowan, Shannon Watson, Arthur Hughes, and Dominic Coleman will also star in the show.
Cat, who has previously written for popular TV show ‘Harlots’, expressed her excitement to be working with the brilliant roster of talented actors.
She said: “I’m thrilled to have such an amazing cast join Jenna Coleman in 'The Jetty'.
"It’s been incredibly exciting to see my characters being brought to life by such a talented group of actors.”
In the eagerly-anticipated programme, viewers will follow Jenna’s Detective Ember Manning as she tries to solve a mysterious fire outbreak in a scenic Lancashire holiday home.
She is tasked with working out how it is linked to a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons case that has gone cold, as well as a prohibited love triangle between a man in his 20s and two underage girls.
However, as Ember draws nearer and nearer to the truth, her life and everything, and everyone, she has ever known is thrown into question.
The BBC promises the show will ask difficult questions about identity and sexual morality in the wake of the MeToo movement.
Former 'Doctor Who' star Jenna previously expressed her excitement to be returning to the BBC for the hard-hitting drama.
She said "I’m delighted to be returning to the BBC to be a part of The Jetty, with Firebird Pictures at the helm, bringing the story of Ember Manning to life.
“I look forward to exploring Cat Jones’ darkly probing scripts, alongside Marialy Rivas’ eloquent vision."
