The comedian and actress is making the so-far untitled movie in Hawaii, with Jonathan Levine at the helm, the director behind 'The Wackness’ and Seth Rogen/Joseph Gordon-Levitt comedy-drama '50/50’.

It’s said to be a mother-daughter comedy, co-starring Goldie Hawn and British actor Tom Bateman.

Schumer has become increasingly vocal in the debate over gun control in the US.

Backed by her cousin, the US senator Chuck Schumer, she has spoken out about gun violence, notably after a fatal shooting at a screening of her movie 'Trainwreck’ in Lafayette, Louisiana, last year.

59-year-old John Russell Houser shot dead two people in the Grand 16 movie theatre on July 23, and injured nine others before taking his own life.

He had a history of mental illness, as well as an arrest for arson and a complaint against him of domestic abuse, yet still had access to fire arms.

“Gun violence is ripping apart America; it’s ripping apart our families,” Schumer said at a press conference in October with her cousin.

“And even those untouched by violence must every few days just look up in a stunned silence at another nightly newscast that reads like an obituary.”

She instigated the hashtag #aimingforchange, and following the shooting in Orlando last weekend, in which 49 people died, called the incident 'sickening’.
