Amy Schumer responds to Barbie backlash by thanking trolls
Amy Schumer has taken to Instagram to thank the trolls that criticised her casting in the upcoming live-action ‘Barbie’ film from Sony.
The comedian believes that their vitriolic comments, which emerged shortly after it was revealed she’d been cast in the part, prove why she is the perfect actress to play Barbie.
Schumer started off by writing that she was “very, very honored” to be in consideration to play an “important and evolving icon.”
Later on she added, “Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support and again my deepest sympathy goes out to the trolls who are in more pain than we will ever understand. I want to thank them for making it so evident that I am a great choice.”
“It’s that kind of response that lets you know something’s wrong with our culture and we all need to work together to change it. Anyone who has ever been bullied or felt bad about yourself I am out there fighting for you. And I want you to fight for yourself too! We need to laugh at the haters and sympathise with them.”

The Amy Schumer led ‘Barbie’ film will reportedly follow her as she travels into the real world after being expelled from Barbieland, while Schumer is set to re-write the script alongside her writing partner and sister Kim Caramele.
We’re still waiting for any news regarding a release date, though.
